Information stored on your phone

Your saved memories are stored in the app's private SQLite database on your device. The app also keeps a local access log with the tool name, number of returned rows, and a short request summary; a search query can appear in that summary. The database and local access log are not uploaded to or stored by the relay. The relay handles request contents and replies only in transit to route them between ChatGPT and your phone; it does not store or log memory content or request contents.

You can export memories as a JSON file using your device's share sheet or delete all saved memories in Settings. Deleting memories does not necessarily delete copies you previously exported or shared.

The app's SQLite memories database and the phone's SecureStore pairing identity are excluded from Android cloud backups and device-to-device transfers. They are not included in automatic backups. Use Export in the app to create a backup of your memories. After restoring or transferring the app, link ChatGPT to create a new phone identity.

Information handled by the relay

To connect ChatGPT to your phone, the relay stores only the pairing and authorization metadata needed to maintain the connection, including hashes of authorization tokens and temporary linking codes. It may hold queued writes as sealed, encrypted payloads for up to seven days while the phone is offline. Only the linked phone can open those payloads. Unlinking removes the device pairing, revokes authorization, closes the session, and clears queued writes.

When a request is active, the relay handles its contents only in transit to route them between ChatGPT and your phone. It does not store or log request contents, memory content, or replies. Pairing metadata and sealed queued writes described above are the only user-related information it retains.

ChatGPT and other providers

Only information the user asks ChatGPT to retrieve or use through their My Thoughs connection is sent to OpenAI as part of that ChatGPT interaction. OpenAI handles that information under its own privacy policy, terms, and settings. My Thoughs does not control how OpenAI handles information it receives. My Thoughs has no ads, advertising SDK, analytics, or telemetry.

Using ChatGPT while your phone is offline

Keep My Thoughs open while ChatGPT uses your memories. Reads require the phone to be reachable; otherwise ChatGPT reports “phone unreachable.” Writes can be queued as sealed, encrypted payloads for up to seven days and delivered when the phone reconnects.

Your choices and contact

You can wipe all saved memories in the app's Settings and unlink ChatGPT in the connection settings. Wiping removes the on-device memory database; unlinking revokes authorization, removes the pairing, and clears queued writes. These actions cannot delete memories you exported or information already sent to OpenAI in a ChatGPT conversation. For privacy questions or requests, contact vcalvi+mythoughs@gmail.com.

Background connection

If you enable Background connection, My Thoughs keeps its encrypted relay connection available while the app is in the background and displays an ongoing Android notification. You can stop the connection from Settings or the notification.

Children

My Thoughs is not directed to children under 18 and is intended for adults.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the policy URL above with a revised effective date. Material changes will also be communicated in the app where appropriate.
